You are invited to enjoy warm Scottish hospitality in the historic Henry S. Morey house, built 150 years ago in 1859.  It is a gracious, rambling, one-story estate, surrounded by a 2 acre wooded glen, and yet is only a 5 minute walk from Main St. shops and restaurants.  Comfortably furnished and decorated with Scottish antiques, GlenMorey House provides a quiet, relaxing retreat for our guests.

AnUnbeatable Location!

Situated on a hill, high above old Placerville, in the heart of the historic district, and secluded in its own private forest of mature evergreen and deciduous trees, GlenMorey offers the best of both worlds.  Our grounds have many quiet spots to relax , while just a short walk from Main St. antique shops, fine restaurants, and art galleries.  We are located only 8 miles from the Marshall Gold discovery site in Coloma, with rafting and gold panning in the American River.  We are only a ten minute drive from Apple Hill orchards and wineries.  Visit us on your way to Lake Tahoe, which is only an hour away.

Rates are for double occupancy with a $20 charge per extra person (children 5-18 $10).  We have a weekly rate of $599 and a single person midweek business rate of  $84.    A hearty farmhouse breakfast is served in the morning, and you are welcomed with a fruit and cheese plate or Fresh Chocolate Chip Cookies upon arrival.  Complimentary beverages and fine chocolates are always available.

No Minimum Stay One Week in Advance!

When making an advance booking involving a Saturday night, we are asking for a two night minimum stay.  (Single night bookings on Saturday often cause us to turn away multiple night reservations and have unrented rooms on Friday and Sunday night.)  However, we are releasing this requirement on each Monday at 10 a.m. and will take single night bookings for the following Saturday, should we have a room available. Please call ahead if you are interested in a single Saturday night and we will put you on our waiting list.  THERE IS NEVER A MINIMUM STAY REQUIREMENT FOR ANY OTHER NIGHT, Except Thanksgiving. We appreciate your understanding!

The Edinburgh

Named for Scotland's capital city, the Edinburgh is our most elegant room, also thought of as our "bridal suite".  It is decorated in shades of ivory, gold, and sage, and has a beautiful carved antique marble fireplace.  Area rugs grace the original hardwood floors.  Its large, adjoining bathroom contains a bathtub with a shower. An extra twin may be placed in this room.

What our guests like about us

We enjoy getting feedback from our guests in our guestbook and in person.  We are especially proud that so many of our visitors felt like they have had a "home away from home".  As we enter our fourth year and are seeing our guests return again and again, we really feel like they are family!  Many of our patrons rave about our breakfasts, especially our Eggs Benedict, and are glad we consider their individual dietary needs, whether that be vegetarian, allergies, Weight Watchers Points, or an extreme aversion to mushrooms!  Other things our guests appreciate are that there is always ample parking, plenty of hot water, and individual room heaters/air conditioners which allow them to be very comfortable.  We like to boast that our very diverse library promises to offer  something to interest everybody, and our front porch is ideal for enjoying a glass of wine.   Husbands often like that our elegant decor is not overly feminine.  We have Cable T.V. and wireless internet available in all our guest rooms.  Our rooms are very quiet and private, with no bedroom sharing a wall with another, and with all our bathrooms adjoining their room.  We are always within reach, but we do not hover. When possible,  we try to accommodate an early or late check-in time, with prior notice.
